Hmm. That's a good question! What type of screen recording? I just tried this out and it looks like you can paste a View mode (single video inserted into the slide) onto a layer. I do not believe you can do this with a Try or Test mode recording, however, but I haven't tried this yet.
Can you tell me what type of recording you're working with?
So...I figured out how to make this work for me...hope it helps others.
I have a highly interactive eLearning for physicians where I am guiding them through entering orders electronically. It involves lots of click-boxes and text entry. To have each step on a separate slide makes for a HUGE file, which is why I want the steps on layers. Here's what I did:
Screen recording on base layer for Step 1
Adjust the base layer recording to the first frame where I want interaction (Action fine tuning)
Duplicate the base layer and rename it for the next step
Adjust the base layer recording to the next frame where I want interaction
Duplicate the base layer and rename it for the next step
Repeat for as many steps as needed
Return the screen recording on the base layer to the original frame
Enter triggers for all layers
I found that I can only adjust the screen recording on the base layer. When I tried to duplicate the layer and THEN adjust the screen recording, it only changed on the base layer.
I haven't published yet so I don't know how it translates to a finished product. Keeping my fingers crossed!
