I'm trying to record screens for a software application that will be played on a PC with an 800x600 screen resolution. Should I record it in 800x600 or use the default settings. I am using the player with the navigation buttons, so I need those to appear when the project is played back. Thanks!
I don't have a technical answer, but I can say that I always use a large size when doing screen recordings. It's easier to scale something down than up. Also, I recommend testing it out or having someone else take a look to make sure everything fits and looks nice. Do this step before making a huge commitment and you'll be glad that you did.
I think you should record in the screen resolution the video will be played back in. I use a different screen recording software that automatically switches the resolution when recording begins and switches back when you stop - very convenient.
I have experimented with a lot of different recording sizes. I have a few questions for you though, that may help me or someone else answer your question:
Are you using the sidebar in your player?
Do you have any tabs at the top of your player (like Resources or Glossary)?
Is it a web based application?
Are you planning on playing it only on the PCs with the 800 x 600 resolution settings?
