Screen Recording step-by-step not detecting clicks

I am trying to make a screen recording a step-by-step.  After completing the screen recording I am able to preview it in full, choose step-by-step, then view mode step, and then choose insert in a new scene.  After Storyline inserts it into the new scene, it only displays the first action and one slide. I can fine tune the recording but this result in me manually having to insert cursors, click animations, and pointer paths which defeats the purpose. 

It seems to me that Storyline is not recognizing the action of clicking?  It will only recognize the first and the rest seem to get lost in the mix.  I have successfully created tutorials using this feature in the past, so I'm not sure what has changed. How do I correct this?
