Screen Recordings playback problems on iPad

Aug 18, 2014

I have a course with screen recordings that goes from the user interacting with the recording and the "system" taking over the interactions. On the iPad when the system "types" information it locks up. It works fine on the PC. It is published for html 5 and obviously working, because it just fails when the VO says "We'll do this part for you." What is supposed to happen is text is "typed" into fields on the screen recording.

I can't use the iPad player for Articulate because my clients LMS does not support it currently. Has anyone seen this problem?

I need to deliver the course by the end of the week and did not anticipate this weird bug.

Hi Susan,

The "typing" that occurs - is that a part of the screen recording as a video or did you add it in as another file type? What iPad version and iOS are you testing this on, and are you using Mobile Safari? Can you also tell us what update of Storyline you published this course with? Update 6 was released within the last month, and included a number of updates to how we handle HTML5 content to assist with performance issues in mobile safari.

Are you able to share a copy of the .story file here with us so that we could take a look? You may want to strip it down to just a few slides to share here in the forums as there is a 20 mb limit for file uploads.

The typing is part of the screen recording. Everythingworks up to that point and then when we “take over” the user interaction ithalts. It doesn’t freeze, because I can navigate using the menu, it justdoesn’t move forward.

We are using IOS version 7.1.2 with the latest version of mobilesafari. I don’t know how to get the exact version number for Safari, soif you need that, if you could let me know how to find that on the iPad itwould be helpful.

I will make sure I have the latest Storylline version.

Here is a link to the published module. The problem is inTopic 5. (this is a test so the topics are out of order – never mind thatfor now!)

Here’s a screen grab of where you should navigate to see if theproblem occurs on your end. It works great on the PC.

Hi Susan,

I'm not sure you've shared the right link - this looks to be a course created in Presenter - not Storyline (based on the presentation.html file you've linked to). I also don't see a topic 5...

Also, I couldn't see your screen shot here?

Could you share a copy of the .story file, this is the file prior to publishing so that I could take a look at it within edit mode and then publish it on my end?
