Screencast drawing a blank

Aug 01, 2012

I am testing a published version of my course.  While testing on a Mac desktop, I noticed that anytime I have a screencast, the screen is blank for about 3 seconds before the screencast kicks in.

I probably can't do anything to speed up the Mac showing my screencasts (which are only about 2 minutes long), but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to keep my viewer calm?  Maybe inserting a "loading graphic"?

Thoughts?

Hey Gillian

Do you have a link you can share so we can try to replicate the slow load? Because Storyline loads assets for the first slide before loading the next three slides, and then the rest of the course, it may be helpful to reduce the amount of media on your opening slide (video, audio, images, etc.). Or, like you mentioned, maybe an opening slide informing the users that the next several slides contain media? That, in combination with good bandwidth would probably be the best way to improve load times.
