screencasts

Jun 19, 2013

Hi there,

I have 8 separate screencasts that I have recorded and inserted as a Video on a single slide within a single scene.  I would like to take all of these 8 screencasts and join them together so it can play as 1 continuous video.  How do I do this?

Thanks,

Kirsten

Hi there Kirsten,

It really depends on how you have this set up and how you want this to function.

I'm guessing the videos are all in their own slides right now, correct? The fastest method may be to just set the slides to auto advance, so when one video completes, the slide with the next video starts.

Another option would be to copy/cut and paste the videos into one slide. Arrange the videos on the timeline so that one follows the other.

One more option would be to record them all in one screencast, but depending on the length of the videos, I'm not sure if that will be an option for you.

Good luck on the project!

Thanks Christine!

I actually took the fastest method you recommended and it worked great!  When I preview my entire project the video plays as expected.  I have set up a button to activate the video.  I just published my project to web and sent out the story for my SME's to view and when they get to the video button and click it, the video doesn't play or display :(

Any idea what the problem is and solution would be?

Thanks,

Kirsten

Hi there Kirsten!

How are you sharing the project with the SMEs? If you're sharing the published output with them, that may be the problem.

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:

Hi Articulate staff,

I am experiencing a problem with screencasts so thought I'd add onto this discussion (but feel free to make new item if necessary).

I work with Articulate Storyline 360, I recorded 3 screencasts, imported them on different slides:  working perfectly. I put them altogether in sequence in one slide, in preview: working perfectly.

Now when I scroll on the timeline toward video 2, positioned to start at 40 sec., it starts not at its beginning, but at 40 seconds. The same happens to video 3. I have deleted all triggers from the slide, checked all video settings (not trimmed) and tried to work around this issue using cuepoints (play vid when triggered). Not working.

As I neeed to put instructiontexts, every 5 seconds this could be a time-consuming issue to work around. Hope you can help?

Thank you, best wishes, Syta
