Scrolling Panel Graphic Error on Microsoft Edge and IE 11 Browsers

Oct 25, 2019

I was doing some cross-browser testing when I noticed that any text box placed within a Scrolling Panel shows twice as much blank space after the text ends. It does not have this problem in Chrome and Firefox. Is this a coding bug? Can it be fixed in any way?

Output: SCORM 1.2

Device Viewed on: Laptop

Operating System: Window 10 Pro

Problem Browser: Microsoft Edge

Problem Browser: IE 11

Hi Training Team!

When you insert a scrolling panel on a slide, it has a certain height. The contents of the scrolling area have a different (higher) height so that the content can scroll. Internet Explorer and Edge are internally calculating an incorrect (higher still) height for the contents, producing the large extra space. You can read more about that incorrect calculation in Microsoft's issue report [https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/issues/16995001/ here].

Our team is looking at ways we can get around the calculation error from Internet Explorer and Edge, but we don't want to implement a change that will sacrifice quality and performance on the learner's machine. If we do make changes to the scrolling panel feature in the future, we'll let you know.

As of now, we aren't seeing this error occur in Chrome if that's an option for you.
