I am currently working in Articulate Storyline and Studio. Is there a way to lock the screen to ensure learners are not jumping through the slides, but also allow for the scrubber bar to rewind or fast forward on a screen without having to unlock the slides?
In Storyline 2, you can restrict the navigation to keep the user from skipping ahead. If you have the seekbar enabled in your player, then the user would be able to scrub within the slide as long as it's not set to read-only.
We have similar information for Presenter '13 and you can check here for information about navigation and here for player settings, including a seekbar.
Thanks for the information Judith! If we enable the seekbar, you said that it will allow the user to scrub within the slide. I assume that they could drag the bar to the end of the slide narration which would allow them to in essence skip the screen. Is this correct?
So the end result for Allen and I would be that slide is locked and not allowed to skip to the next slide until the slide is complete. But while the user is on that slide, especially when it's long with narration, we want the user to be able to fast forward and rewind within the slide. IS the above answer going to be able to provide that end result?
Clarification for Judith's question is that we want to avoid the behavior of fast forwarding to any part of the slide that has not previously been played. We would like to user to be able pull the bar back to an earlier part of the screen, but not pull it forward if it has not already played.
You will be able to restrict the navigation, yes - but Allen is correct and if you enable the seekbar scrubbing, the user could skip to the end of the slide and then proceed to the next slide.
Wendy's suggestion above could help with that scenario.
I missed your response Allen, and thanks for clarifying.
Sounds like the seekbar is probably not going to work for you as you wish. You are welcome to share your thoughts with our product development team here.
Would a custom button or the replay button to re-start the slide work for you? Not sure how long your slide timeline is?

HiAllen
there is an option to have the seekbar available but turn off the ability to scrub it - making it read only - not sure if this is what you are after.
In the Player options tick Seekbar and then select 'seekbar is read only' from the dropdown list.
