Search problems on site of E-Learning Heroes

Apr 15, 2014

I am trying to find answers for specific subjects in Storyline through the search box on the site, but do not get any results. Every time the system replies that no subjects can be found, even when I use words like slide or LMS. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Internet is working fine and I don't seem to have other problems on the web or my computer.

Thanks in advance, Johan

Hi Johan and welcome to the community!

No doubt the search feature on the forums could definitely use a helping hand - we're hoping that the next version of the forums will have a more user-friendly search feature.

In the meantime, however, I personally recommend using Google instead. If you use a specific string "site:nameofdomain.com", you can narrow the search results for a specific domain. For example, you could search for "Storyline Video Best Practices site:community.articulate.com". Using that search, you'll actually see a lot of pretty helpful threads.

Please let us know if you have any trouble with this, or if you have any questions.

Thanks and welcome again!

Thank you Christine.

Your suggestion does give better results than the search box. Still, I find it strange that the option to search the site is available, without any possible success. Disable it or give a warning until the problem is solved, is my suggestion. Now you get the feeling you are doing something wrong and that costs a lot of time and causes frustration.

Hi Johan,

I agree that the search function really ought to be fixed, but it is an intermittent problem.

Some days the search will work fine, other days it won't return a single result - no matter what browser is used. I would still try to use the search feature, then use Christine's suggestion as a Plan B as, when the search works, it works really well.

Hope this helps

Hi Johan and Harri,

The good news is that we're currently working on a new version of the forums. While I don't know when it will be available, I'm told the search functionality is much, much better. This is pretty important to all of us that use the forums, and we're all excited about the changes that are coming to the community.

Thanks! I hope you both have a great day :)
