Seekbar Not Progressing and Other Issues

May 22, 2013

Hello,

A developer on our team is experiencing issues with his version of Storyline. The problem initially was that published presentations lagged longer than normal in between slides; here's an example: http://www.comcourse.com/internal/file.php/823/02Flashcards/story.html  We installed the most recent upgrade and now the lag issue is gone, but the seekbar will not progress. To further complicate matters, he's experiencing this problem with all storyline files, but we are not able to replicate the problems on any of our other storyline computers. I've attached on of the presentations he's tested and had issues with and a screen recording of the most current (seekbar not progressing) issue.

Thanks so much!

Hi there Douglas!

I'm afraid I'm not seeing the issue on my side, either.

Can you tell me if this happens for him when he's previewing the project, or if it only happens after publishing, or both?

Can you also make sure he's working with the file locally, please?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

He is running version 3 (1305.2012), correct?

If this happens when he's previewing and the files are all local, he may want to try a simple repair of the software:

Let me know how it turns out.

Thanks very much, Douglas!
