Seekbar visible only on base layer?

Sep 24, 2013

I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I'd ask. Is it possible to have the seekbar visible on the base layer, but not on other layers?

I have slides with layers that show background information on a scenario that I would like the learner to be able to view at any time by rolling over a specific trigger. These do not have audio, so I would rather not have a seekbar showing when they roll over the trigger to view the background.

Is there any way to have the seekbar not visible on these layers, or to have the seekbar stay in the same position it was on the base layer?

Hi Wendy,

You can disable seeking within the layers, as described below:

  • Allow seeking: If your slide's player controls include a seekbar, you can set this selector to Yes if you want to make the seekbar active on your slide layer. This is handy if the layer contains video, animations, or audio that you want learners to be able to pause, rewind, or fast-forward. If you leave the option set to Automatically Decide, Storyline will allow seeking on the layer if you've marked any of the following options: Hide objects on base layer, Prevent the user from clicking on the base layer, or Pause timeline of base layer.

which is from this tutorial here.

You could also remove the seekbar from that  particular slide by updating the slide properties to "Custom" and unchecking the seekbar option.
