select an object only once

Jul 08, 2014

Hi Storyline-Heroes,

I´m stuck!

My situation:

I try to make a kind of "Main-Menu-Slide" which should offer multiple Buttons to get to different scenes.

After finishing the selected scene you get back to this "Main-menu-Slide".

(select scene - finish selected scene - come back to main menu)

what i try to do is that the already visited buttons could not be selected any more once visited so you can only choose the scenes you haven´t seen already.

At the moment its possible to select the scenes and come back to the main menu. But every try to disable the already selected button didn´t work.

i tried states (diabled state) and variables with a transparent layer which appears after visiting an scene...

i already changed the slide properties to resume saved state...

I hope the problem is understandable and someone has a good idea...

best regards

Ingo

Hi Ingo! If your Main Menu button has two triggers (1 to jump to the right slide & 1 to change the state to Disabled) check the order of them. You might need to move the state change trigger up above the jump to slide trigger. Otherwise Storyline makes the jump to the other slide and never gets to the trigger for changing the button state. I've attached a simple example.

Hi Ingo, I'm not sure why disabling the buttons didn't work for you. See attached a quick example with a menu slide and five sections. At the last slide of each section, I set a T/F variable to True. Back at the menu, the state of each menu button is set to disabled when its corresponding variable is true. Hope that makes sense, otherwise I suggest you post your file here for us to take a look.

Hi Mike, hi Michael, thank you for the quick answers. After a short check it feels like i tried your ideas already.

A closer look showed me that i created a loop in the variables and also put in in a wrong order…(so actually the loop was created before i got to the diabled state).

So i just needed to clean up - your examples helped me lot! Thank you!

Greetings

Ingo
