I inserted an instructions button on multiple slides with a "selected" state to show the instructions when clicked on. I have a slide trigger show a "Try Again" layer when a user clicks outside the hotspot OR the button, but the Try Again layer shows even when I click on the button.
I removed the "selected' state from the button and the slide layer did not show when I clicked on the button (as I intended). Any advice?
Thanks! Sorry, I didn't realize both of my questions went through . Attached are a few of my slides for an example. When I remove the "Selected" state, the "Try Again" layer doesn't show when I click on the button, which is what i want to happen with the selected state.
Thanks for posting your file. I did get a workaround for you. You can have the Instructions set up in a new layer instead of a state.
Adding the trigger to "show layer" is working. You can see this in slide one of the attached file.
It seems as though the built in default state was not interacting with the triggers. I am going to look into this further, but for now this should work for you.
Thanks, Emily. I originally did the instructions as a layer, but I had to do so many triggers in order for it to work the way I wanted it to. Create the layer, not click on the base layer, hide the layer when clicked outside of the text box. I am working with several slides for different scenarios so I could paste the button with the states vs. triggers. Let me know if you know of a way to copy triggers quickly .
You can copy and paste the triggers right from the trigger panel using the copy/paste icons.
Also, if you have a button that you need on each slide to trigger the same things (layers) you can copy the button into a new slide and the triggers will be set up. All you will have to change is the assigned item for the trigger.
Creating the new layer on every slide, making sure they can't click on the base layer and then attaching it to the trigger is what is taking so long for me. Am I missing a quicker way?

Hello Jessica, and welcome to Heroes!
It may be easier to see what you are describing if you could share the .story file. You can upload it using the paperclip icon.

Hello Jessica!
I don't know of a quicker way, but hopefully another community member may know, and can add some ideas.
