Send variable detail to LMS?

Sep 28, 2016

Does anyone know how I could provide the detail on a certain variable to the LMS system? We have a custom quiz item with 12 numeric entry fields. We have set up a variable and triggers to add a value of "1" for each correct numeric entry, with a total possible score of 12. We would like to provide the detail to the LMS so that we know which of the 12 numeric entry fields were answered correctly and which were not. Is there a way to send this information to the LMS using a javascript trigger? Or is there another method? Thanks!

Articulate support sent this information, I have set it up in the module and it is working great....

By default, Articulate Storyline can't send or doesn’t report the value of a variable to an LMS.  However, this article describes one way you can do it:

Hi Erika,

I'm not sure if Dave is still subscribed here, as the post is a bit older - but you could always use the "contact me" button on a ELH users' profile to reach out to them directly!

What issues are you running into with question text?

Answer text is sent in SCORM 1.2 and 2004.

The interactions.id element that is in SCORM 1.2 wasn't written to allow question text to be sent to the LMS, although it's possible that an authoring tool could be modifying the interactions.id to make it more descriptive.

There is a bit more technical information about that on this site specific to SCORM support. This blog post also has a good real world example of what that would look like in SCORM 1.2 and 2004. Also, take a look at this workaround for SCORM 1.2. The challenge with that is that you'll his the suspend data limit much faster.

Best of luck with your project and let us know if you need anything else!
