Sending user answers to an LMS

Sep 27, 2019

Hello everyone, I'm happy to say we're producing some great courses in SL; bit of gamification, lots of interaction, branching, and pulling in lots of Vyond videos - another great tool!
So all is going well, but.... ;-)
We'd like to capture user's inputs in the LMS. I appreciate there has been a few comments about this and I do know how/what we can do and what it sends such as shown here:

My question is more in the formatting of what SL sends the LMS. I'm using SCORM 2004 v3 and have noticed that for:
slide names - the data sent ignores the name I've given the slide, could we not have it send our more meaningful name?
single/multiple choice questions - here the data is all in one string with underscores. Could it not be sent in a more legible format?
free text entries - these seem to work the best for what we want but again its not rich text; line breaks are ignored.
I presume this is SL output not our LMS' interpretation.
Many thanks for your help!

Hello Steven!

I'm happy to hear that you're creating amazing courses!

As far as LMS reporting goes, Storyline has a standard way of sending over information which is what you're seeing in the LMS report. We don't offer a feature to customize that text, but that doesn't mean there isn't a way to do that.

I'd love to hear if any of our Community members have a workaround for this!

Steven, this question is for the LMS vendor because they decide how the data is presented. But you also don't necessarily need to rely on the LMS to collect the learning data. You can use a service like the Data Cloud https://cluelabs.com/data-cloud-elearning-widget.html to capture any kind of information you need.
