Set up of result slide for LMS

Can anyone advise if there is a particular way that the final results slide in Storyline should be triggered to end a course that ensures the LMS picks up the actual results

Theoretically, if a learner reaches the Results slide and then exits the course, the LMS should pick up whatever the results were. The default Results slide should be all that's needed -- well, that, and the proper SCORM settings. Those differ based on which LMS you're publishing for.

FYI: In my experience, the Saba LMS didn't seem to get the info when the Results slide was the last slide. But it would work when users exited from an "End of Course" slide after the Results. To help ensure users would advance to that slide, I included a "Click NEXT to submit your results" message on the Success layer of the Results slide. BTW, that was years ago. I don't know if Saba still has that issue. However, I still like having a separate "End of Course" slide.

Peter,

What trigger are you using for the Submit button on the Results slide?

  • When a Results slide is inserted, it automatically gets a Submit Results trigger. That is what tells the program the user's score.

In the example I gave, my on-screen message says "Click NEXT to submit your results." But I used the word "submit" only to emphasize the need for the learner to go to the next slide. The NEXT button still had the usual trigger to advance to the next slide.

As I understood this solution, there was something about going to the next slide that ensured the results were added to the data sent to the LMS. Without going to the next slide, it seemed like the course was waiting to be told what to do with the results, which is why completion wasn't being recorded.

BTW, as I said before, I still like to have an "End of Course" slide after the final Results slide. Even though it's not needed for completion, it provides a place for a quick summary and/or note about other resources.
