I need to force users of an eLearning to enter in their employee ID number before hitting "Submit" on the results slide. I have added a Data Entry control button that they would use to enter their ID, but am not sure if I can force them to enter text into the field before proceeding. Please help.
Could you have a layer that displays if they try and submit before entering the data. Similar to the disclaimer page we use in some courses. So the submit transaction would include a condition.
I am very new to Articulate and am not sure how to link the two. In other words, I know how to create a layer, but I am not sure how to have the layer appear if they hit the Submit button before entering the text in the box.
Welcome to the community. You would need to create a trigger to show the layer when they click on the submit button on condition that Text Entry box is equal to (blank)
I just started working with Storyline 2 and have a similar question. On my first slide I have to data entry boxes for the person's first name and last name. I want to be sure that both names have been entered before the submit button will work and take the user to the next slide. Not sure how to do what was suggested above with 2 data entry boxes? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
You would have a second condition line for TextEntry2 in your Trigger Wizard like Emily shared above. So, if either were blank, they would not be able to proceed.
Great news Gene! Thanks for popping back in with an update and if you think it is something that can help someone in the future that runs across this thread, I would encourage you to share.

Hello Jeremy!

That worked, and I was able to figure it all out! Thank you guys for your help!
Glad this worked for you Jeremy!

Is that what you are asking?
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for the quick reply! I have already figured it out based on some other similar threads I was able to find.

Okay, here are screen shots of the triggers I created. This one shows the layer instructing the user that the first and last name are required:
This one allows the Submit button to go to the next slide if both names have been entered:
Oh perfect Gene! Thanks for sharing your solution with the community :) Just what I suspected as well. Good luck with the rest of your project.
Thanks! :)
