Yes, that can be done. Here is just one of many, many examples of objects with custom states that are set based on the value of a selection variable: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl71_SL/PickHouse/story.html . In this example, a type of house is selected. Then on the following slides, the selected house type is shown, based on the previous selection. This is done with variables, custom states and conditions.
