Setting Different Feedback layers + Setting Partial Grading

Mar 24, 2013

Hi everyone,

Inspired by the Sales Orientation demo, I want to make some changes to the Test mode recording I took for a software training course. This recording includes both text entry and hot spot freeforms.

I am struggling with two issues:

1. For each question, how do I create a different feedback for each number of attempts?

I have tried using variables but did not achieve what I wanted.

a) For the 1st incorrect attempt - I want a layer saying "not quiet, try again".

b) For the 2nd incorrect attempt - I want a layer which provides the option to get a hint.

c) The 3rd incorrect attempt should be considered a failure and should show a layer which provides the correct answer and lets the learner to move on.

2. How do I set a third scoring option (not just 0 or 10 pts)?

Right now, Storyline automatically created two grading options for each question: 10 pts for a correct answer and 0 pts for an incorrect answer. I want to also have an option for 5 pts in case the user answered correctly after choosing to use a hint.

Please note I need the final grade to report to LMS (Moodle). Maybe that means I have to somehow use the Correct / Incorrect layers Storyline automatically created instead of creating my own layers? Not sure.

I would really appreciate any ideas you might have.

Thanks,

Tali

Hi Tali,

See attached.

The only solution I can think of is to make a duplicate of same question with different points and a "hint" trigger that will send the user to that question. Submitting that question will return him to the quiz.

Quiz score will include both questions (he get 0 point on the original question if he press the hint button  and 5 point on the "hint"question)

Hi Tali,I had the same challenge and solved it in a different way using variables.I used a "Pick Many" survey slide, not graded and added a few variables. My challenge was to give a few attempts to each question and still only to add the last pick score.I created a var for final question score - Q1Created a status var to differentiate which option is currently picke 1-2-3 (initialy value is 0)and created a questionaire summary var for all questions.each option got trigers that the final logic was to set the correct value in the summary var.I will be happy to send the sample (dont know how to upload it here.:
