Hi fellow Storyliners, I have embedded a Youtube video into a course and but want to start playing the video 57 seconds into it and end at 1:19 seconds.
I've tried a couple of different ways - here is my latest effort to define the start time
Did some of your code get stripped out when posting. I have not tried this in storyline, but this was the tutorial I followed when I needed to do it for another project.
Hi Phil, that code was taken directly from the youtube site (right click - copy embed code). I will try the code from the site you recommend. I've been looking around and much of what I have found does not seem to work. I guess it is because Google changes their sites so fast - this is really a bit of a problem in my opinion. Makes development a challenge.
I realize this is an old post, but I seem to be having the same trouble... just with the END parameter... so I wonder if there was any sort of resolution to the question?
Hi Seth, I never did get this to work. I ended up recording the segments of the video we wanted to us and then inserted that video into the course. We did obtain permission from the organization that created the original video before using it.
Thanks for popping in to share that tool. This thread is a bit dated so it may not help the previous posters, but it could certainly assist someone in the future.

Not sure if this works now, just because google seem to change their sites so fast.
Noticed today they no longer alllow embeding googledocs in iframes, which is great because it has broken 90 scorms that I created

Sorry about your 90 scorms - I feel your pain.
I tried this code, but it looks like Storyline just ignores the start time.
Hey Nancy,
I didn't check Phil's link (might be the same code), but you should be able to pull it off using the "start" and "end" parameters described here.
Hi Peter, I might just have the syntax wrong or something but when I embed the video it just seems to ignore the start and stop parameters.
Hi Nancy, et al,
I realize this is an old post, but I seem to be having the same trouble... just with the END parameter... so I wonder if there was any sort of resolution to the question?

If you want to use start and end times (and some other options), I have found you need to embed it as a Web Object instead of a Video object. See this Articulate page: http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-add-a-youtube-video-to-storyline.
Cheers.
I found this simple tool for customising the start & end time of any youtube videos..
Simply go to the below link http://www.youtubestartend.com
& the generated link can also be shared with your friends or embedded in your website.
Absolutely no need for calculations & all that. Simple as 1,2,3.
