Setting the number of decimal places for numerical answers

Mar 01, 2016

Hello,

I need to ensure that one part of an answer is a two-decimal number and another part of the answer is only shown as a one-decimal number. As it stands now, the number (13.3) insists on becoming 13.30 which is the wrong answer as it is rounded off.

Any suggestions anyone?

Actually, I have just the opposite problem to ‘Brenda’s’
"I'm using variables in a calculator-type situation. Everything works fine, except when there's a '0' for the second decimal digit. Example: $600.01 shows up as $600.01; however $600.10 shows up as $600.1 (instead of $600.10). Is there anyway to make that second digit after the decimal point show up as a '0'? Or some way to set a default number of digits to show after the decimal point?”

One of your staff explains that currently Storyline ALWAYS rounds up to 2 decimal places putting a ‘zero’ in the hundreds place i.e. 13.30. However, Brenda is explaining that it rounds it up to a ONE decimal place “600.1” which is exactly what I need it to do. But the issue I’m experiencing is that when people enter 13.3—it puts a ‘0’ in the hundreds place (just as your staff member said it does) but this for our case, is wrong.

I guess the bottom line is that there is no way to tell Storyline to NOT put a zero in the hundreds place so people can enter 13.3?

Hi, Cynthia -- Thanks so much for your reply and clarification! According to this article,"When you display the value of a number variable in a text box, Articulate Storyline automatically rounds it to two decimal places." I am not aware of another way to accomplish what you have described, but perhaps someone in the community will be able to provide additional ideas or suggestions you can try for what you'd like to accomplish.
