Show Completion Slide

Sep 17, 2019

Hi eLearning Heroes. I stopped using Storyline some time ago, but was recently asked to create a module that shows a completion slide when the user has viewed all of the slides in 1 of 2 paths (USA and UK). There are quizzes associated with each scene, but they are not required to get all of them right in order to move on.

Long story short... if anyone can help me figure out how to show the "completion" slide when they have completed all slides/quizzes associated with 1 of the 2 paths that would be fantastic. I'm at a loss because I can't say show the completion slide if all quizzes are completed because one path is slightly different than the other. This is due back to the client tomorrow morning so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

Once the user selects their country, they hit a landing page with a set of buttons that bring them to the related scene. Within each scene is a video that they can't fast forward. When they complete the video they have to answer a set of questions. At the end of the quiz their is a button that returns them to the landing page associated with their country. There is no order they have to complete their path in. I'm wanting the completion screen to show up when they have completed all of the scenes associated with their country. At that point I could add the completion trigger associated with the completion page. Long story short... I'm so lost. lol

Hi Christopher,

I still think the variables would work well for you.  The slides wouldn't have to be completed in order.  For each path you have a variable (USA variable, UK variable).  The variable count starts at zero.  When your learner completes each slide necessary for their path, a trigger adds a number to the variable for that path.  Then, you have a trigger that causes the completion slide to appear once the variable hits the required # of slides per path.

Holley, one problem I've run into with this approach is everything works fine, until someone clicks on one of the steps *twice*, adding to the count. Then they're able to get a completion before they've viewed all the required steps. The only way to avoid this would be to add conditions and additional variables that would only allow the addition of a number to your completion variable IF they hadn't already clicked on that step.

Christopher, to add on to my last comment... It looks like each of your steps goes to a scene, and at the end of each scene there's a return to main menu.

Couple of ideas here... On EACH one of these you could have a button called "complete course" or something with a default state of "hidden". Add triggers on each of these checking for the status of your country step T/F variables. If all of them for a country are TRUE, hide the "return to main menu" button and show the "complete course" button that would take them to the course completion slide, with your complete course trigger.

Another idea would be to have your country T/F variable triggers on the main menu slide and when a user returns, if all of the steps for that country are TRUE, pop up a slide layer with your complete course info and complete course trigger, or alternatively a button to your complete course slide.

Hey Brian,

You're right, I could see that as an issue if they are jumping around.

I like your True/False variable idea versus counting.  Agreed that maybe a hidden button on the main menu (one that is very obvious once it appears) would be a great way to accomplish this.  Once it sees that all of the required pieces for the certain path are True, it'll show the correct ending slide when clicked.
