Show layer after buttons have been visited

I've created an interaction in which the user needs to visit 5 sections via individual buttons. Once all have been visited, I'd like them to do a quiz.
I've created a layer to show that takes them to the quiz and added a trigger that says 'show layer when all buttons=visited'. When the last button is clicked on, the layer shows briefly before taking the user through to the last section; when they return to the landing page, the layer is displayed properly.
I realise that the layer is showing as soon as the state of the final button = visited (albeit fleetingly!) before the story progresses to the final section. Is there a way of preventing this as it looks somewhat untidy?
