Show Layer Trigger not working and image on base layer is displaying in layer, even though it is unchecked

May 11, 2018

I frequently have this issue - I have a slide with layers, and I'm using the Show Layer Trigger when Timeline Ends. However, it isn't working and I cannot figure out why. As I said, this happens frequently, and I usually have to rebuild the slide.

Also, I have an image of a red Null sign on the base slide. This image shows up on the next layer, even though I have it unchecked in the Base slide timeline.

I've attached a file for your review and know in advance, your help will be greatly appreciated.

you'll never get to the OS Role with these triggers, as layers do not have timelines.

I use triggers like this frequently for layers, as layers DO have timelines and these normally work great for me.

Like Trevor the null symbol did not show up for me, but the second layer never appeared for me. Looking at the trigger set up it *should* work, so I'm not quite sure why it's not working in the project you attached.

Hi Cindy!

This one was definitely a puzzle!

Like Trevor and Ryan, I did not see the red "null" icon appear on the layers. If you're incorrectly seeing that icon, it could be that you're using an older update of Storyline 360. To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.15.15581.0 in the bottom-right corner.

In regards to the second layer not appearing, it seemed to be related to the items hidden on the base layer. I'm going to do some more testing on this to see if this is a bug.

In the meantime, I corrected your file by adding a white rectangle to hide the base layer graphics. Have a look at the file I've attached, and let me know if it's working correctly for you. You'll noticed I enabled the player seekbar to make testing a little easier. You can remove that if you don't need it.
