Shuffle function still has problems in html5 version even with updates

May 19, 2016

Hi,

Good day. I've been suffering lately with this unusual bugs that pops out with the html5 version. We're currently transferring from html to html5 and a lot of issues has been popping out left and right. For now, we want to focus on fixing the bugs that is being caused by the "shuffle function". We always shuffle the answers to our exercises and now it's causing mayhem in the html5 version. Things like missing choices or anchored choices being randomize are some of the issues we've been experiencing.  I did some research and saw that there are others that are having the same problem and found that the update has resolved this issue. I've updated but still encounter this problem.Uploading them on the web server right now would be a huge hassle since the whole team is busy with the migration. I would like to do testing on our local drive(like what we do before with html) and be able to utilize the shuffle function (we're currently shuffling the answers manually as a temporary solution) since it will cut down on production time. I look forward to your response. Thank you.

Hi Jerran,

Thanks for reaching out here and I wanted to ask a few questions for clarification.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest update 8 of Storyline 2? If so, is that where you are seeing the shuffle issues you mentioned resolved? When you check that you'll want to confirm that you're viewing the published output within the intended environment and if you're not ready to upload to your web server you could use one of the options mentioned in this article. Testing the content (Flash or HTML5) locally is known to cause erratic behavior and issues with browser/security restrictions.

If you have uploaded to a server and are still seeing the issue, I'd ask to have you clear the cache of your browser or utilize a new browser to ensure you're accessing the latest version of the course, not a previously cached one.

If you're still having difficulty after checking into those items, we'll want to take a look at your .story file. You can attach it here using the "add attachment" button at the bottom of the reply window in the forum thread. You could also send it along to our Support Engineers here.

Shuffling the answers on freeform exercises are still unstable in html5. I
can't provide you with the storyline file as it is not my property. I've
done all the recommendations you've stated and they are still acting
weirdly. Sometimes, answers that are shuffled disappears from the selection
of choices. Have you had similar reports about this? When would you have a
fix for html5 files? regular html flash vs html5 files are night and day
when it comes to stability.
