Since update, after opening and closing a lightbox, slide skips to next slide

Jan 23, 2019

Using Storlyine v3.24.17733.0 (updated today)

I have a course that worked perfectly prior to this update. As of today, it's broken in HTML5 even after publishing it. The course is a branching scenario, and the slide master has a few icons at the top of the screen that lightbox some slides, such as "Score", "Notes", "Restart", and then the Exit icon. Some slides are set up that there is no next button, but you need to click the "write notes button" at the end of the slide to write down your notes in the notebook. Once you click this button, it opens a Layer on that slide with an animation to let you know the notes were written, then a trigger that sends you to the next slide once the timeline is complete.

With this new update, I've noticed that if you click a lightbox icon at the top, then close out of it, it will open that slide layer (but not play it, so no animation), and launch the Jump To trigger. So people who launch their notes or score at the beginning or middle of a slide won't be able to watch the whole slide without automatically being redirected to the next slide. I've tested this on the preview and published version, the new version and the old published version, and just the new version is broken on HTML5.

The one workaround I have is that I can go to every slide layer that contains this and change the trigger from 'Jump To When Timeline Ends' to 'Jump To When Animation Completes', but that will require lots of re-coding (course is translated...).

Is anyone aware of this new problem and is there anything we can do on the backend to resolve it without me having to recode the entire course?

Thanks.

Thanks! One more thing I noticed. It also plays the audio on the slide as well. I did the long workaround since I need this launched by the end of this week and changed the triggers to be animation based and not timeline based, so if people click on of the lightbox slides, it doesn't push them forward. However, they will still hear random sound effects that are on those slide layers while viewing the lightbox slide. (Still no visuals. Just sound being activated, and triggers related to the timeline happening.)

Hi Janine,

First, I noticed that your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if you would like by clicking Edit beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.

It sounds like you've hit another snag, that's luckily already been reported to our team, where audio files from other slide layers are playing at the same time after closing a lightbox opened from a slide layer.

We're still looking into this one, but in the meantime, you can add a “Play media trigger when timeline starts” to all the audios in the slide layers to prevent those from overlapping.

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is:

Fixed: Audio tracks from multiple layers could play simultaneously, even when the layers weren't open.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.
