Single or multiple licenses needed?

Feb 07, 2013

Hi there,

I'm looking to create an online course with multiple lessons. I will have 2-3 people working on building the content, working on separate computers.

Do I need multiple licenses?

thanks!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Siobhan!

The Articulate End User License Agreements (EULA) for Storyline allows a single user to activate one serial number (license). If more than one person logs onto the same computer with Articulate software installed, each user will be required to activate the software with their own unique serial number. If you need to purchase additional licenses, you can do so here.

If more than one user attempts to activate the same serial number on the same PC, an Invalid Serial Number message will appear.

Also, for a single user and license, you'll be able to use the license on 2 machines. So, if you have a desktop and a laptop, you'll be able to use the software on both machines.

Let me know if you have any other questions. You're also welcome to contact our Sales department for more information.

Thanks!

Hey Christine,

This is exactly what I'm trying to do.

I have the .story files in the cloud, syncing between devices. I work at a workstation at my office and have a notebook for on the go or when I work at home. Before I fully installed Storyline, I installed it in a sandbox, tested it, activated it, was happy. I emptied the sandbox and fully installed it on both machines. I was able to successfully activate it on the notebook, but it's giving me an activation error on the desktop. I suspect my serial to be flagged as overused due to my initial installation in the sandbox (1), subsequent full installation on the notebook (2) and desktop (3).

Should I contact the Sales department and try to clear my serial for another activation or would that be futile?

Regards

As long as you can prove you're the owner of the license it should be worth a call to have them deactivate one.  In fact, I believe you can do this via email or the support form.

I did this many many moons ago w/ Studio and a previous employer when I got a new comp and forgot to deactivate the license.

Hi Tom,

Great question - each license is for one individual to be able to install on two machines such as a work desktop and home laptop for example. If you have questions about our license structure and need something a bit more custom you're welcome to connect with our Success team here and they'll be happy to assist.
