Size of content in SuccessFactors LMS

Apr 09, 2018

I can't get the content to start in the browser size I set in Storyline.
I have already tested different sizes
1100x825
720x540

But no matter what size I try, SuccessFactors always opens a 800x600 browser window.
Does anyone with SuccessFacor's knowledge have a tip for me?

Hi Jochen,

What are you using for your player/browser settings outlined here? Those may also help if you're able to set them differently and SuccessFactors respects those settings.

You could also look at editing the launch page, but that's not something I can help with - although there are a few examples you may find in ELH.

Thank you, Asley, for your answer. I also know the document and have tried several options.

The size of the browser window at startup can only be specified exactly if I call up the content via the launcher. But the user has another window (from the launcher) opened. Which is not nice.

Otherwise, the browser window opens at a fixed size specified by SuccessFactors and the user must manually enlarge the window until the content is displayed appropriately. Which is also not so nice.

If anyone else knows of any other way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have done further tests with the player settings.

Even if you use the "Resize browser to fill screen" setting as shown in the screenshot, SuccessFactors opens the WBT in its default resolution.
Now you could say that this is a SuccessFactors problem. But I have also done a test with content from another authoring tool in the meantime, and this content will be opened in the resolution that is definied in the player settings.

So my conclusion is, this is an Articulate problem, not a SuccessFactors Problem!

The Articulate content does not  "send" the resolution in a way so that the LMS reacts correctly.

How do I get a fix for this?

Hi Jochen,

To clarify, it sounds like:

  • Using the launch page opens the browser window at the correct size for the Storyline output, regardless of SuccessFactors settings
    • You'd prefer not to have the launch page
  • Disabling the launch page restricts Storyline to open in a predetermined browser size set by Success Factors, that the user can change/enable.
    • You'd prefer the screen resize to what you'd set

Have you tested your content anywhere besides SuccessFactors too? That's another good option to help narrow down what's impacting this behavior, I often test (and it's an LMS standard) in SCORM Cloud.  If you see it working there as well, that's good info to share as well.

Hi Jochen,

I wanted to circle back here and give you an update on the behavior you're seeing.

This is actually not a bug, but rather it's expected that the browser will not resize in HTML5.

You could instead try using Player size: Scale Player to fill browser window setting so that the learner will be able to see the full player without having to scroll.

Hi Jochen & Alyssa,

You will need the SuccessFactors System Administrator to make changes to the System Configuration > LMS_Admin > Learning Content Settings: Content. You will want to adjust the #Window options when launching different course types. There's AICC, SCORM, browser, and document sizes you can adjust there.  There's also settings if you open the content in the same browser window.

Good luck, Scott
