Perhaps I'm doing something wrong but when I import a MPG4 video of 400 Mb it remains 400 Mb when published, despite the fact if I put the compression to automatic.
Anybody having the same problem? A bug or a mistake on my behalf?
It actually does but you can turn compression on and off. This is what Articulate has to say about it:
Compression: Choose Automatic from the drop-down to have Storyline compress your video files when you publish your course. Choose None if you'd prefer not to compress your video files. Video quality may be higher by not compressing videos in your published output, but it also results in larger files. (This feature is only available for MP4 videos created with baseline, main, or high profiles. All other video files will be compressed when published.)
Thanks for your reply but that is exactly what I did but no automatic compression was conducted unfortunately. The original file size remained the same. For this specific project I have now changed back to SL 1 to enable the large files to be compressed as default.
Are you able to share the video file with us so that we can test including it in Storyline and see what occurs? It's likely to large to upload here unless you have a link where we could download it - but you can use the link Jeff shared to upload it directly to our support team.
Hi I am having to same problem. I would import a 100mb video file in SL 2 and it would end up making the video larger. Even after changing the publish setting to there lowest. The video quality is 1 and the image quality is 10%. I really need a fix for this.
I'm sorry you've run into the issue with video file sizes in Storyline 2. This is something we have reported to our team as a bug.
I wanted to share a link to an earlier discussion where Justin shared some helpful steps and workarounds for folks to use as we continue to investigate the issue.
Thanks for the reply. I am using the trial version so I am not sure if that is causing the problem. I had to revert back to SL 1 to finish my module. Have you seen the same issues the SL 3?
Hello Michael - I have not seen a similar issue for Storyline 3 and you are welcome to download the trial to try it out though :) A backup copy of your original file will be saved.

hmmm, odd, could you share the file or send it to me so I can have a look. It almost sounds like a bug. You should report it here
