SL 2 getting "laggy" in edit mode

Jun 05, 2017

I'm working with shapes I want to animate and sometimes when I move them into their starting position - no animation applied as of yet - there's a lag between my moving them and their appearing on the screen where I moved them to!

Hitting "undo" gets interesting, because that lags, too, and I'm left unable to trust what I see on-screen. I just tried quitting SL2 and launching again. My RAM is 8GB. Windows 7, Core i5 3.2 ghz. Is this robust enough hardware that I should get smoother performance out of moving things around on the stage?

Thank you!

Hi John,

It sounds like it's robust enough - but I'd also want to know what else you have open and running while you work on Storyline. Here are the minimum system requirements. You could try shutting everything else down and seeing how Storyline behaves with that set up.

I'd also look at making sure you have the latest update of Storyline installed. To check go to the Help tab -> About Articulate Storyline. We're now on Update 12.

Hi there John!

Sorry you're seeing this lag in edit mode. It sounds like your system meets the requirements for Storyline 2, so I wouldn't expect your set-up to cause a problem. Is it possible that you’re working from somewhere other than your local C: drive?  Working from a network drive or a USB drive can cause a few different problems, and you can read more about that here.

If you're already working locally, give it a try in a brand new Storyline file. Are you seeing the same behavior there?
