SL 2 UI not displaying correctly on windows 10

Oct 08, 2015

Hi! I just installed SL2 on my new laptop which has windows 10. The problem I am facing is that the UI display is extremely small. It seemeds like a resolution issue, so I changed the resolution of the laptop to display things bigger, it changed the display of everything except the UI for Storyline 2.  Can you please help me figure out how to fix the display in SL2 ,  I can barely see the tools. Please take a look at the screenshot attached. Thanks!

Hi Richa,

Storyline needs to work with a DPI setting of 96, and on high resolution monitors that can cause the display to appear much smaller. We've shared this type of feedback with our product team, so they're looking into future options for higher resolution monitors, and you'll also want to share your thoughts in the form of a feature request.

Hi Natalie,

Our QA team has been made aware of the issues associated with high resolution monitors working at a DPI setting of 96 causing display issues. We're working to improve performance on HD monitors. In the meantime, you may need to reduce your screen resolution while working in Storyline.

If you're using Storyline in Parallels Desktop on a Mac, you can avoid this behavior by disabling Retina resolution in your Windows virtual machine. Here's how.

I'm not keen on "quick fixes." I need a concrete solution because my job depends on it.
So, at this point. I'll have to return my newest purchase, and get a computer that supports this program. Does anyone have any suggestions of any new model laptops (currently on the market) that will support Storyline? I'm having issues understanding what to look for in the specifications. Nothing mentions DPI. My second option is to explore other software. I've heard Captivate works fine.

Hi Natalie,

Just wanted to connect it to this other thread where I was working with you as well as far as resolution, we're generally seeing the issue with monitors that display more than 2,000 pixels in width. We're working to improve performance on HD monitors. In the meantime, you could look at reducing the screen resolution of your system instead of getting a whole new computer. The directions would vary based on your version of Windows, but for example here are directions for Windows 10 here from an external site, so you may want to search for the directions for your Windows version.
