SL issue with replay button - playing audio from other layers

Jul 11, 2017

Hi everyone,

I'm on SL 360.

I'm developing a course that has slides with several layers in it. User would play the slide, then click a button and view a video scenario, then return to the base layer. I've added the standard storyline seekbar. Everything is working fine, except for the fact that when I click the replay button next to the seekbar, the audio from the video in the underlying layer starts! Seems like the "replay" button is playing media from every slide layers. Have you ever experienced this? I can't find a clue on why this is happening,

Take a look at the source file if you like (put it on Dropbox because it's quite heavy):

I think it's a typical SL360 oddity, if I'm not missing anything on my side. Kind of getting accustomed to it :)

Bye,

Dario

Hi Dario, thanks so much for sharing your file. You're right--clicking the Replay button causes the video on the slide layer to play on top of the base layer audio in HTML5. We're finding this happens in HTML5, but it works correctly in Flash.

I'm really sorry this is causing you headaches. We're working through this issue, and I'll be sure to notify you once we get an update. Thanks again for bringing this up here!

Thank you Alyssa, I came up with a quick workaround in the meantime: adjusting the video setting to play "when triggered" or "clicked" solves the problem, I think it has something to do with the "play automatically" setting of videos, and can be solved in this way, but it's still a bug that deserves to be escorted to the door I think (since I do not like killing insects!)

Hi all,

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the  release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is how it fixed an issue where videos on different layers would sometimes play simultaneously when revisiting a slide in HTML5 output.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
