I hope you are doing great! So, I have a question for you SL gurus
I have a few slides where the timeline is automatically defaulting to 10,000 seconds. My questions are: is there a way to change the "slide" duration without dragging the timeline manually (this takes WAY too long) and have you every experienced this? If so, how can I prevent it in the future?
I have not seen this happen before. Typically when you enter a blank slide it defaults to 10 seconds. Some of the templates are set up a little longer if there is room for content, about 8-10 seconds.
Do you have any items in these that are media? Are you using a template?

Please make sure you are working locally as described here.
You may also try importing the slides into a new project file.
If this does not work you can try the steps here.
