SL2 Corrupts Published files

I am using Articulate Storyline 2 on my Brand new Mac - running Bootcamp with Windows 8.1. This past week, I have had 2 different files become corrupt, then the published courses will not work. Ive been working off my external hard drive(which could be the root of my problem) and need to change the name of my files to the most current date when I save my file. I need to know if this is an ongoing issue where I will have to uninstall/unregister the software on my new computer and work off my old one to get my work done. Any help on how I can continue using my new computer would be welcomed.
