SL2 to SL3 file upgrade (objects not showing in playback)
Feb 05, 2018
Hi, I have upgraded to SL3 from SL2. So my files upgrade to SL3 when I first open them. However I'm getting an issue with some objects (a rectangle for example) no longer displaying in preview/playback.
Looking at the timeline an affected object has lost part of it's ID (see attached example). The object I have highlighted in red displays, the object highlighted in blue (without the 'rectangle' description) does not. It's in a drag an drop interaction.
Has anyone else seen this upgrade issue?
Can it be fixed without having to delete the affected object and adding a new object?

I have now been upgrading more files from SL2 to SL3.
The issue appears to be with the 'Drop Target' object of drag and drop interactions. The object is blank in the timeline e.g. does not say 'rectangle' and then does not appear in preview, however it is still there on the screen as the drag and drop interaction still works. ]
Currently I'm having to delete these objects, replace with new objects and reprogram the drop target.
Hey Trevor,
Thanks for keeping us up to date on all of your testing. This isn't an issue I've seen, but that certainly sounds frustrating.
Hi, I was preparing a previous SL2 file for you to test. In doing so I saw that the drop target object had lost it's description in the SL2 file as well. Going back through the archive versions of the file it appears that it was introduced from a contractors version of SL2 for drop target objects. In SL2 the preview/published view still displays the object even with this bug.
So I don't think this is a fault of the SL3 upgrade process, as an error was already present. We will have to check every drag and drop interaction as we convert SL2 files to SL3.
So we can end this thread.
Aw man, Trevor.
I appreciate the update.
Curious if importing the SL2 file into a new SL2 file will clear up the issue you are seeing prior to re-creating. It might be worth a shot.
Like your thinking. Unfortunately the issue just carried over into the new SL2 after import.
Nice idea.
Darn. I tried :)
