SL2, Vimeo embed not working with keyboard, display issues

Oct 25, 2016

Hello all,

I looked at the forums and so far haven't quite seen the answers I need. I am embedding lots of short videos from Vimeo into SL2 using the embed code. (I tried embed web object and so far that hasn't worked.)

The videos usually play very well on the mouse click, but I can't get them to work using the keyboard. Does anyone know if I am doing something wrong, or if there is a way in SL to get the video to play using the keyboard? Triggers aren't working, at least not as I'm writing them.

Also, now I am getting feedback from the course reviewers that when the mouse hover moves off the video, the screen goes black although the sound continues. It doesn't always happen, though, and I can't recreate it. Anyone heard of that?

Thanks for any insight-

Hi Lori,

I also don't know of a way to use the keyboard shortcuts with the Vimeo player in Storyline, but as far as your mouse hover it sounds like something we'd want to take a look at. Are you able to share your project with us here in the forums - if you'd like to use the "add attachment" button it;ll be here for all staff/community members to review or if you'd like to send along to our Support team you can upload here?

Hi all,

Thanks for replies. As for Vimeo - I'm just trying to get the video to play in the slide by tabbing and pressing space bar or enter - I guess that is a shortcut, but that is so universal, it seems weird that it doesn't work, especially as I can use tab and enter on the vimeo site itself to start and stop videos.

I'll send a file to the support team, but it's a tough one, as I can't replicate the hover issue, but I have a few people who are experiencing it.

Hi Lori,

I'm just checking in on your case and see that you and Ryan are still working through some odd behavior where it's occurred intermittently for a few users. Were you able to have them test the version of the course that Ryan shared at SCORM Cloud? It may be worth seeing if that one causes the same behavior for those users.

I'll continue to follow along as well as Ryan and you continue to test.

Hi Ashley - got initial feedback from users that the issue wasn't reoccurring, then more feedback that it was, so sent Ryan some info about the browser and system.  Ryan and crew weren't able to recreate the issue on Scorm cloud. Maybe they can test on a different browser and windows version -  my users were on a different Windows version and browser.

Hi Lori,

I see that you're continuing to work with Ryan and that he shared the following information:

Since the user mentioned that the issue occurred on the desktop computer using Firefox on a Windows 10 computer, we need to verify if they are viewing the Flash version or HTML5 version of the course. To check, please ask them to open Firefox and then paste (https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html) on the address bar. Once the page loads, please click the Check Now button. This will display if Flash Player is installed, The version or if it is not installed.

Also, we need to check if the issue will persist using a different browser (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer).

It is possible that Flash Player is enabled for Firefox on the laptop and not on the desktop. As of the moment, we need to verify that.

Please let him know as a part of your case once you're able to check that and if you need any additional help.
