I've not come across that problem before. Have you tried opening a new project in storyline 2, then going file > import > storyline and trying to import the project that way?
Hello Rob. Much obliged for your prompt suggestion. I tried it. It seemed to indicate it was loading all the slides but then 'hung' without any apparent slides being available and therefore only the 'Cancel' option was left. Good thinking, but not there yet!
That error message sounds similar to one that was fixed in Update 4 of Storyline 2. What update are you currently using? You can check by going to the Help tab -> About Articulate Storyline.
Hi Ashley. Thank you for your thoughts. I am currently on update 4, so sadly that does not seem to be the answer. Any other thoughts gratefully received.
Are you able to conduct the repair of Storyline? It could be that something occurred during the install of the update. If after the repair you're unable to still upgrade the file, can you share a copy of the SL1 file with us here?
I have completed the reinstall as you suggested, but sadly no apparent progress. I have therefore uploaded one of the files (zipped) as you said. Again, thank you for helping out on this.
I downloaded your zip file and had a look at the story file. I tried removing the [ ] in the name to see if that was an issue - not. I created a new SL1 file and imported it in - renamed it- still no luck converting it to SL2. I then started stripping down the project into scenes to see if there was a particular slide that is corrupt.
I have scene 1 and scene converted to SL2 (separately) without issue.
I know it might be a pain to do it this way and maybe someone has a better way but there seems to be a load of work you have already done - so if we can salvage some of it - that's good.
Here are the two converted scenes...if you want me to help you keep going - let me know.
Very grateful for your help. Looks like a corrupt item (for SL2) somewhere in the file. I will start a new SL2 version importing what you have done so far. I will then work on the others. Thank you so much.
Of course, if you/anyone else can find what is causing the issue it would be good to know!
Hi Wendy - well done, thank you. I wonder if the problem sits with the old Engage objects, i.e. two of the potential ones are Engage. Of note, other presentations I've done over the past year with SL1 have not used Engage as it did not provide the right functionality.
Glad to help Nick...you had done a lot of work in that project - be a shame to have to redo it. I'm not sure about those Engage interactions - interesting find if that's the case as there have been a few people post about the error message you were getting.
Maybe Articulate support can investigate that further...
You're right! - sorry couldn't help myself - had to check it out...this is the error message when trying to convert SL1 project to SL2 that contains Engage interactions.
Thanks for sharing all the information here and working through this. Importing one scene or slide at a time is the best way to narrow down any corruption issues and determine which slide caused the problem.
In regards to the Engage objects, there was a similar issue with Quizmaker 09 that couldn't be imported into Storyline 2 if Flash Player 16 was installed - but that was fixed in Update 4. Have you checked which update of Storyline you're on - you can go to the Help tab and click on About Articulate Storyline to see which update number it is.

Excellent - now we know what to sort. Hopefully this may help others as well. Thank you so much Wendy.
