SL3: New caption auto-populate function after latest update?

Aug 21, 2018

Adding captions to my audio files for narrated screens has been a great and easy process, but after the latest update the caption placeholders are already added when I click to "Add captions". That's nice, except that SL decides where to break the placeholders, so there are many more than I would use, and end up deleting a bunch of them. Is there any way to turn off the auto-populating of the caption placeholders? Thanks!

Hi Richard!

Great to hear you're checking out the built-in closed caption editor! The editor will automatically analyze the audio track to detect units of speech and add caption placeholders to the timeline that are synchronized with your content.

It sounds like the editor is adding too many placeholders for your liking, though! There currently isn't a way to turn off the auto-populating of the caption placeholders, but I can understand why that would be handy. I'll share your idea with our Product team!
