I have been trying to get a Storyline 3 file to work on iPad for over a day now. I have tried multiple publish settings and still nothing.
It works fine on desktop (not Safari on a macbook, and only on chrome when Flash is enabled). I have tested in Scorm Cloud on desktop and works fine, however neither chrome nor safari work. I have published the same file in Storyline 2 and they all work fine.
Hi there, Brett. I'm sorry you've had to spend some time troubleshooting this issue. A quick file that I mocked up worked on my iPad mini when hosted in SCORM Cloud, so I'd like to find out under what conditions your project is hanging up.
Let me see if I can help:
Can you let me know if you're working on Update 2 for Storyline 3?
What version is your iOS? The latest version for iPad should be 11.2.6.
If you're able to share the file, can you attach it here for me to test?
Thanks for getting back to me. I was using Update 2 but I have downloaded and run another test on Update 3 this morning. iPad is running on the latest version of software. This morning's test revealed the same results where, text-based content is missing from all slides in safari and chrome on the iPad in the SCORM Cloud and LMS environment. Checked on Chrome on desktop and they're both fine there. Will need to double check on a MacBook environment though.
I had a quick look at the mockup you provided too, and I don't know if it's worth noting or not, but we're not using the default player, and we're using a modified version of the quiz.
I will need to check to see if I can send you the file to investigate as it's client work and I will need to get approval first.
Thanks for taking a look at Crystal's version and getting started with update 3 as well! Do you have a .story file to share with us too? If yours looked different than Crystal's it may help to check all the settings, publishing outputs, etc.
You can share those items by clicking here and inserting it into a new discussion comment. Look for the Add Attachment button. Thanks!
I tested your course out and uploaded it here. That version showed normally for me on an iPhone 6S with iOS 11.2.2. and matched what I was seeing while viewing your course in Storyline 3.
Thanks for having a look at it. Not sure if you did anything to it but now the text shows, however, now any icons (which are text files) don't load when they did before (this is on Chrome on iPad). The text has also defaulted from what it's supposed to be (DIN). Are you able to take me through any steps you made with publishing the file?
I only opened it up and published it for the same LMS settings you had. No special magic, I promise. 😀 I didn't have the font installed that you were using, so it does default to system fonts.
Could you point me towards the icons that don't load for you so that I can take a closer look at that?
The typeface DIN loads, but the icon type still doesn't load on both Chrome/Safari (iPad & Desktop).
On Safari on iPad: It won't progress past the first slide. On Chrome on iPad: It loads very slowly and the icons don't display. On Chrome on Desktop: the icon type now doesn't display.
Apologies, the previous devs have used an assortment of icon types. I have attached the remaining typefaces for you.
From what I understand, essentially nothing different has been done on your end to the file. It appears that we've both published for LMS, and i've published with HTML5 and HTML/Flash yet for some reason it doesn't display properly on iPad/macbook(safari) for us in either SCORM Cloud or on our LMS.
So i'm wondering what else the problem could be as I'm running SL3 update 3 and the latest version of iOS on iPad, and we're having the error where all the icon type still displays, but the text doesn't.
Thanks, Brett! I've got that font installed, and I re-published your file.
Let's try this testing one more time. Can you please open this link on desktop and iPad, and let me know if everything looks and works correctly?
If something isn't working correctly, please take a screenshot of it and attach it here. Also be sure to let me know what web browser you were using when you took the screenshot. Thanks!
Thanks, your version works on both desktop and iPad. However, the version I have published still doesn't work. I've attached screenshots of what it looks like in Chrome and Safari on iPad as well as the versions for iOS and Chrome app. I've taken a screenshot of the publish settings i've used too (I have also tried it in straight HTML5 and gotten the same result). This is what I need to solve, as if you've done nothing different in the publish then there's something else wrong that we need to resolve as it means we have issues with publishing any other courses in SL3.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was using Update 2 in SL3, but have changed to Update 3 already and I still have the same result.
There's a whole series of courses that were all published in SL2 which all work. This was simply opened up in SL3 and published this way with no other changes so I can't see why this would be having these issues when the others work fine.
This is a real puzzle, for sure. To recap, we are both using Storyline 3 Build 3.3.15007.0, and we are both testing the output on SCORM Cloud. My SCORM Cloud link appears and performs correctly on iPad 11.2.6, and your SCORM Cloud link does not.
From here, would you mind sharing two things with me?
Your SCORM Cloud invite link
Your published zip file
I also want to share my published zipped file with you. Please upload this zipped file to SCORM Cloud, and let me know if it works correctly when testing on your iPad.
Thanks for sharing the zipped output. This one has us totally stumped! I uploaded that to SCORM Cloud here, and just as you showed all the text is missing on iPad. It works just fine on desktop Chrome and Firefox (Mac) as you shared.
Since you and Alyssa previously confirmed the same publishing settings, versions, publish locations, etc. we're going to get you working with one of our Senior Support Engineers right away!
You'll see an email shortly and there you can also provide the URL for your LMS too although, since your version when uploaded to SCORM Cloud by us also doesn't work, I'm not sure we'll need it any longer.
Hi, are you able to confirm what the solution to this issue was as we seem to be having the same problem. We have a quiz where the questions intermittenly aren't showing when its accessed on an iPad although it is showing the answers.

Hey,
Didn't realise I'd attached the scorm file. Story file attached.

I've attached the typefaces we used for both body text and icons, would you be able to try it with those as it's still not working for us.
Hi Brett,
I installed those three fonts, then published your course with Storyline 3 for LMS.
Could you test this SCORM Cloud link on your devices and let me know how it appears for you?
I'll be standing by!
Hi Alyssa,
The typeface DIN loads, but the icon type still doesn't load on both Chrome/Safari (iPad & Desktop).
On Safari on iPad: It won't progress past the first slide.
On Chrome on iPad: It loads very slowly and the icons don't display.
On Chrome on Desktop: the icon type now doesn't display.
Hi Brett,
Mind taking a quick look at this screen recording? Hopefully that will explain the behavior you're seeing. Thanks!

This is the link you can test on your desktop and iPad.
Please keep me posted!

Hi Alyssa,
Correct, same version of SL3 and iOS on iPad.
I can share those with you yes, do you have an email address I can send the invite to? Zip file attached.
I've tested your file on scorm cloud and it works on ipad as well.
Hi Brett,

Hey, confirmed that there was a bug with rendering certain typefaces that aren't "Apple-friendly". It's gone into the pipeline to investigate more.
Thanks, Brett for sharing that update here.
