Slide and Scene transitions

Mar 05, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I am interested to learn about what techniques people use for slide and scene transitions especially with the next and prev buttons.  In a recent course I have created in Storyline 3, there is audio to go with the text on the slides. Originally, I had setup things for the next button to appear once the final audio file completed.  Students are providing feedback that they are reading the text faster and want to go to the next slide before the audio is done.  I am trying to balance their experience with ensuring they are obtaining the knowledge.  Is it better to always have the next and prev buttons available or appear within a few seconds of the slide starting or make the students listen to the audio completely before transitioning?  Also, is there a way to setup up the SCORM file so once they have gone through a slide, the student doesnt have to listen to the audio from beginning to end since they have already viewed the content.  Thanks so much. Aaron

Hi Aaron,

I can understand the dilemma here. Students can learn and grasp information at different paces. If you decide to make the next and prev buttons available immediately, here's an article that outlines options for restricting and locking down the buttons.

Alternatively, maybe you could sprinkle in some short quizzes to help with the students obtaining the knowledge.

Best of luck!
