Slide layer with mp4 not reloading/resuming properly

Mar 27, 2017

Hi,

Seem to have a problem with storyline 360 when outputting to HTML5 only.

I have layers with mp4 videos on them, but when revisiting these layers the 'reset to initial state' is not resetting the videos. They start from where they left off or are at the end point of the video even though the video is set to not play automatically and only when triggered.

I also seem to have intermittent issues with video playback. When outputting to HTML5 only a few times the video is almost black. Hit a replay btn set inside storyline to control the video and it then plays as it should.

Has anyone noticed how the initial frame of a video is displayed in the wrong colour too. I have coloured backgrounds in the videos which when imported into 360 show a different shade. If I match a coloured background inside 360 with the colour picker the video then plays with a different shade. Solid colours seem to be messed up in the initial frame. You can get round this by setting a 'poster frame' but its a lot of work if you have lots of videos etc!

Does anyone else have so many problems with HTML5 output??

I have submitted the storyline file for review.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi there Paul!

Thanks for sharing your file with me. I published to Articulate 360 with Flash Only and HTML5 Only, and I definitely see how the videos reset to their initial state in Flash but not in HTML5.  I didn't notice any issues with video playback, and I'm wondering if that is browser-related. Which browser did you use to test the published content? Did you publish to Articulate 360 to test it, or did you host the published file elsewhere?

Finally in regards to the initial frame of the video being the wrong color, I can't say I've ever run across that issue before, but I'm definitely seeing it in your file. I've opened a support case on your behalf (01043380) to have our Support Engineers weigh in on the issues we're seeing here--they're rockstars with this kind of thing, and you'll be in good hands!
