Slide Master: Are Scrolling Panels with Text Placeholders possible? Settings for Video Placeholder?

Apr 20, 2017

Hi everyone,

I have two questions regarding Master Slides in Storyline 360:

  1. Is it possible to insert a Scrolling Panel and add a Text Placeholder to it in the Master? We have a lot of slides with longer texts that require scrolling panels. I tried out everything I could think of, but all I managed to do was adding a textbox with a fixed text to a scrolling panel in the master slide, which is not what we are looking for. It would be convenient if we could use the text placeholder, simply select the corresponding master slide when creating a new slide with longer text and paste the text into a placeholder linked to a scrolling panel without having to create a new scrolling panel on each slide. Our project will have hundreds of slides, so this would be a real time saver.
  2. Are there any additional settings for the Video Placeholder except for Size and Position? The way it seems to work is that after inserting a video using a master slide with a video placeholder, the video always plays automatically, has no play / pause button and so on. Is it possible to change this behaviour?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Fabian

Hi Fabian,

1. When you add the scrolling panel to the slide master, the text would also have to be added there. There isn't a way to drop the text into the scrolling panel box while on the slide itself as it's acting as a placeholder from the master.

2. The setting such as video controls and playback will be based on the individual video. Having them controlled by the video placeholder sounds like a neat feature though - so something worth sharing as an Feature request here.
