Slide Master Cleanup

a crude method I use is to add a coloured shape to each master layout and then look at the story in Story view and you can see at a glance which slides are using which layouts.  I then apply the layout I want then go back in and clean up the masters.

I use the same method that Wendy shared above.

We are currently tracking a feature request for the ability to identify which Slide Masters are in use and where within the project.

I've attached this conversation so that we can pop in and share any updates that we have with you in the future.

I guess this will work.

Hopefully, the feature request will eventually become part of Storyline. The way it imports all those themes and templates is annoying. 

Maybe an option to not import Slide Masters, but only raw content.

One more question on this topic. Is there a way that new projects will open with my custom Slide Masters? Right now, it opens with the Clean masters. 

Is there a default setting I can change?

You mention new projects. Have you taken a look at templates? This would help you start your project with the design you intend to have.

That sounds like a great idea. Where do I find sample templates, and how is this different than using themes?

Hi Alain,

Content Library comes with a selection of ready-made slide templates that you can use, but it sounds like you are interested in creating a custom template.

Wanting to start a new project with a design you've already gotten in place is what prompted the suggestion.

An easy start is to save your current project as a template for future use and a great baseline as you asked about.

Themes are also helpful and can be a part of your template, so I guess it comes down to your specific workflow.
