Slide Master Image Changed Unexpectedly

Sep 20, 2017

Hi all,

When we re-opened one of our old courses to republish it, we noticed that the background graphic we used in the slide master had the wrong dimensions. The scale of it was clearly off, revealing the default white colored background below it.

Here's what I'm taking about:

New/Incorrect Version (Published in Storyline 360 on 9/20/17)

Old/Correct Version (Published in Storyline 360 on 2/20/17)

We're running the most recent version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.8.13281.0).

The issue above can be easily fixed, but we have a collection of courses we republish often, which might make this a huge problem for us, especially if it shows up in other ways throughout our courses.

Was anything updated recently that could have affected this?

I'm attaching the sample slide above.

Thanks for the help,

Michael

Thanks for reaching out here, Michael. Those screenshots are really helpful! I've not seen this issue reported in the forums before, but I saw the same thing when I opened your file with the latest update of Storyline 360.

It looks like your slide size is 560x980, while the background image size is 551x980.

I'm having some trouble recreating this issue on my end, so can you help me with a few more details?

  • Was the original file created in Storyline 360, or an earlier version of Storyline?
  • Did you make any changes to the slide master before publishing with the most recent SL360 update?
  • Have you seen the same problem with other republished courses, or does it only happen with this file?

Thanks for responding, Alyssa!

As you mentioned, the slide size and background image size don't match.

I believe the creator of our slide master stretched the background image vertically to match the slide size, which isn't great from a design/quality standpoint, but it did fit.

The original file was created in Storyline 1. It has been republished many times without any slide master-related issues that I know of. We didn't make any changes to our slide master before publishing with the most recent Storyline 360 update.

The problem appears in many of our other courses as well. A good amount of them use some or all of the slide master you've seen, so the same issue pops up frequently.

Right now, I'm looking through our other courses. Besides the problem I originally brought up, I haven't noticed any other issues related to the slide master (or anything else) so far. I'll update you if I come across any new problems.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Alyssa,

I just published your project file with the latest version of Storyline 360 and I don't see the issue.

Although the course (and slide master) was originally created in Storyline 1, I think the issue happened within Storyline 360 sometime between 2/20/17 and 9/20/17, as I laid out with the screenshots in my original message.

Thanks again for the help!
