Slide not advancing in IE 11 compatibility mode

Sep 22, 2017

Hi,

I created a story in my Storyline 360 and everything works fine except that the published story doesn't work on my IE 11.

While most of the story works like a charm, the screen gets stuck on a submit button where I change a variable on the basis of check boxes. And show a layer according to the variable (triggers are placed on sub-layer).

I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0 in Compatibility Mode. I would really appreciate any help regarding this.

Thanks

Hi Shushant, thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry you're having trouble in IE11, and I'm happy to help.

We recently fixed an issue with Storyline 360 in IE11 compatibility mode, so I'd like to first verify that you're on the most recent update of Storyline 360. To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.8.13281.0 in the bottom-right corner.

Let me know if you're already on that update, and we'll go from there!

Hi there Pete,

I don't see that this issue was reported for Storyline 3, so I wouldn't expect the same problem to happen with that version of Storyline.

What kinds of issues are you seeing in IE11? Have you found that disabling compatibility mode in the browser fixes the problem?

I'd be happy to help you test your file, if you don't mind sharing it. You can attach it here, and I'll take a look!

Thanks for your email Alyssa. I'm still troubleshooting with our client on the IE11 issues. I'll include some text below for what they experienced, but I've asked them to try turning off compatibility mode while running the original version I published (HTML5 with Flash fallback). I've also published a version that is Flash with HTML5 fallback for them to try. For now we're just testing a web version, eventually I'll provide an LMS version for them.

I'll refrain from providing the source files for now since it contains long-ish videos and I'm working remotely at the moment with spotty internet. When I get a chance I'll trim the source videos to make for a smaller file size.

Here's the description I got from them for the problems they were experiencing:
The issue is that I'll click on the link you provided for the demo. Yes, it does automatically switch from http://www.learning4excellence.com/Softball/story.html to
http://www.learning4excellence.com/Softball/story

Hey, Pete! Thanks for that context.

It sounds like the story.html link is automatically switching to story_html5.html, is that correct?

That happens when you're viewing the link in a browser that has Flash disabled, or if the course was published with HTML5 first.

Let me know if you can get any more clues from your client that can help us solve this mystery! 🔍
