Slide NOTES on layers

May 12, 2014

When I look at the NOTES on a slide layer, I see only the notes for the main slide. Can I have separate notes that go with the individual layers? I use the NOTES to make sure than hearing impaired learners can read the script via the NOTES tab.

Is there a way to turn on and off the notes tab in the player interface? The majority of my slides don't have notes so I don't want the Notes tab to show up. I'd like to add a button to the main stage which when clicked expands the left sidebar and displays the Notes area. In my case the button would be labelled Transcript as it would appear on a video slide.

Hi Hugh!

Great question. By default, player tabs display for all slides in a course, but you can hide built-in player tabs such as Notes on a slide-by-slide basis. Here are the steps and a short video to follow along!

  1.  On the slide that doesn't require a Notes tab, click on the ⚙️icon on the bottom left-hand side to open the Slide Properties menu.
  2. From there, choose Custom for the selected slides under Player features and uncheck the item(s) you need to disable.

Additionally, you can disable the Notes tab throughout the course by clicking on the player icon player > then, uncheck Notes under Player Tabs.

Let me know if either helps!

That's exactly what I was looking for thank you.

I only have a few slides with notes (and videos), in multiple Storyline files, is there a way I can easily find them all within a scene? I'm just thinking if my clients don't want this feature how do I find them all and reset them back? I won't necessarily remember which slides were video slides and manually have to go through the thumbnails to check.

Or is there a reset all feature somewhere in the player settings?

Hi Hugh!

We don't have a built-in feature that differentiates which slides have notes or videos!

In this case, I can see where that would be helpful. You can find our feature request form here!

To change the settings for the entire course, you'll want to head over to the Player.

I've recorded a short tutorial for you so it's quick to revert back to the basic Player Properties.
