Slide Results Not Reporting Properly to LMS
Mar 06, 2017
Hello, I'm new to these forums and to Storyline in general.
I created a course with an exam at the end to be taken. The exam is made up of 8 questions. On the Results Slide, I set the passing percent at 80% (meaning only one question can be missed to pass). When I publish the course for an LMS, I have the tracking set to the results slide in question, and the Reporting as Complete/Incomplete per the instruction of our LMS account managers.
However, if a participant answers one question incorrectly (earning less than 100%) the course is not removed from their assignment list. I'm thinking this is a programming issue within the course itself, but I've run out of ideas of what it could be and would greatly appreciate some help.

Welcome to the community, Stephen!
Have you tried switching the Reporting setting to Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed? Many LMSs track both a completion status and a success status as described here. Completed/Incomplete and Completed/Failed report only the completion status, whereas Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed will report both completion and success.
Referring to the SumTotal LMS, Brian shared the following over here in this similar post:
Here are the LMS reporting options we mostly use when publishing from Articulate for SumTotal LMS, and the scenarios for which we use them -
My guess is that these reporting options will function fairly similarly for any LMS.
Hi Alyssa,
I have tried all of the reporting settings, but I still encounter the same issue. Despite receiving a passing grade of 80% (as I have set in Storyline) it is not being reported to my LMS as completed. I double checked with our LMS support staff and he confirmed that SCORM packages must report Complete/Incomplete or they will not report correctly.
Hello Stephen - Do you experience the same issue if you test the content in SCORM Cloud? Curious if it's your project and something we need to look deeper into or if it is perhaps your LMS?
Thanks for that update, Stephen. The next thing to try would be to test it in SCORM Cloud, which is industry standard for LMS testing. If the course reports correctly there, we can assume the issue is related to your LMS. If it does not report correctly in SCORM Cloud, we can assume the issue is within your Storyline file.
Let me know what happens after you test in SCORM Cloud, and we'll go from there!
Thank you for the help. I tested the project in SCORM Cloud and it seems to be reporting just fine on that platform. I'm putting a call into my LMS support staff, but I appreciate the troubleshooting assistance. It's a nice peace of mind knowing it isn't a programming error within the course itself.
Thank you again!
Happy to help, Stephen! I hope you hear back from your LMS support team soon!
