Slide timer

I'm creating a 30 hour driver education course required by a government agency. The government agency requires the e-learner to log at least 30 hours in the course. The easiest way to do this I think would be to have a timer on each slide that doesn't allow the learner to advance until the timer times out. Can somebody help? I'm new to articulate and am still trying to figure out all the features. Anybody have any solutions?

Might not be the answer you are looking for but I would suggest studio and not storyline for this as storyline does not have a native timer.
Hi Don. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes,
There are a few suggestions floating around on the forums for what you're trying to accomplish. First, however, you might want to consider submitting a feature request for a built-in slide timer. I think that sounds like a really nice feature and I know you're not the only one looking to see something with this type of functionality.
You may want to take a look at the threads found here, here and here for some suggestions. They may not be exactly what you're looking for, but hopefully it'll get the ball rolling for you and you can find what works best.
Good luck on the project, Don.
Thanks!
Christine
Hi Don - I am looking at using Storyline to support similar requirements as your Driver's Ed course. What was the final solution that you implemented? Did you end up using Storyline?
Thanks,
Gail
Hi Gail and Welcome to E-Learning Heroes! Could you share some details about what you are trying to accomplish so that others in the community may be able to assist as well? Did you check out the links that Christine posted above to see if they might benefit you?
Hi Gail. What industry? Drivers ed? I ask because there are some specific nuances to appease regulators if it is.
Greetings all!
I am evaluating tools to construct a training course that involves a similar timer - one that verifies the user has spent at least two hours within the course in order to complete it - and would be very interested in hearing further recommendations on how to best accomplish this goal with Storyline.
As is the case in many posts I've read, this timer would have to span multiple chapters as well as persist through multiple user sessions if the learner has to login/out several times. I will continue searching through this forum, but would very much welcome and appreciate thoughts/feedback from those who have accomplished implementing something similar.
Thanks!!
Sorry not a reply, but ditto - need a feature to capture amount of time spent on individual sections, particularly video chapters.
Hi Ben and Barbara,
First off welcome to the Heroes community! There isn't the built in functionality to do this, as you've figured out by now - but I did want to share that if there are particular features you'd like to see in future updates to Storyline you can share your thoughts directly with our development team by submitting a feature request. Always a good idea to post here and see if someone has a workaround too!
Hi Everyone, I have the same question as above and I am wondering if any features or solutions have been developed now? It's been over 6 years to the last post, so I have my figures crossed for a positive answer !!!
Thanks,
Ann
Hi Ann,
Thanks for reaching out! Storyline 360 does not have a course timer, but you may find this E-Learning Heroes tutorial on how to create a custom course timer in Storyline 360 helpful:
This feature hasn't made it to the top of our roadmap, but we're still listening to the feedback! Here's a bit more about how we work to prioritize feature requests.
Thank you for the reply. I will check it out!
