Slide trigger jumping back into player trigger on reboot

Mar 20, 2018

I am experiencing a rather weird issue in Storyline 360. I created a variable called NextSlide that adds +1. I have used it with multiple triggers, one of them being

Jump to next slide when variable NextSlide changes if NextSlide is Greater that or equal to 4.00

This trigger appeared in the player triggers in the first place. I might have adjusted the standard slide trigger 'Jump to next slide When the user clicks the next button or swipes next'. Still, the following should not happen:

If I open the trigger pop up and hit enter it jumps into the slide triggers. Saving the project, closing it and re-opening it makes the changes undone.

If the trigger is on the player, my variable does not work. If I preview it when the trigger is being switched to slide trigger as mentioned above, it works fine.

Hi, I have the latest version of Storyline 360 (updated yesterday) and I am currently experiencing this problem.

It is very frustrating as I am creating triggers to move to the next (or previous) slide on a key press and they are randomly changing to a player trigger from a slide trigger which stops them working!

To fix it all I am doing is editing the trigger and saving with no changes and it goes back to a slide trigger, however it will then randomly change back to a player trigger again.

Hey Kym,

I am sorry that you are running into this snag!

It sounds like that workaround is helping resolve the issue, but could I have you record a Peek 360 screencast of the issue you are seeing? This would help greatly in determining what might be taking place here.

Thank you for reaching out and please let us know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Vincent,

Sorry for the delay, here is a link to a Peek 360 screencast showing the triggers in their incorrect state and how just editing and selecting OK to close the trigger moves the triggers to Slide triggers.

On re-opening Storyline, these triggers were back to Player Triggers.

Thank you so much for that recording, Kym!

It was super helpful to see, and I'm really sorry that's plaguing your file!

From here, I'd like to get a second opinion from our Support Engineers. I'm going to open a case, so you should receive a follow-up email shortly. They're wizards at determining the cause of such oddities, and I'll follow along to share any relevant updates here!

Hi there, Elyse. I'm so sorry you hit this roadblock!

Our team is still investigating the issue where slide triggers move to the player trigger. As soon as we have a fix in place, we'll let you know!

In the meantime, one workaround is to use the direct slide number instead of the next slide option (if there is a jump to next slide trigger when the timeline ends).

Let me know if that helps. I'll be here!

Katie Riggio

Good morning, Elyse. Thank you for this extra detail!

Ah, I see what you mean. As we continue to investigate, would you be willing to share the .story file with us? We'd love to take a thorough look at your setup to offer more tailored support. If you're able to share the project, please use this private upload link!

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to share that the issue where a slide trigger jumps to the next slide and then goes back to the Player triggers is now resolved!

The next step is to update Storyline 360 by heading to your Articulate 360 desktop app and clicking "Update" next to Storyline.

If the problem reappears, please let us know! We are happy to help!
