can anyone tell me how the first slider example-the vertical bars that move with the sider-is created? I understand the others in this articulate tutorial video? Is there another video that explains this?
I may be wrong about this, but I think the vertical bars are not actual sliders, but objects with various custom states that are displayed as the slider value changes.
See attached a very rough example. The vertical bar is an object with a number of custom states. Triggers are used to change the object's state based on the slider variable changing, as the slider thumb is being dragged.
Thanks so much Michael. I can create the rest with this. BTW, (and I'm only 19 days into the free trial) do I (the author) create the states, such as the ten states here?
Hi Peter! Glad that you are getting the assistance that you need here. I just wanted to pop in and mention that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature, but you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
continuing my "vertical bar" issue, I have a slider and a vertical bar. I want the vertical bar to "grow" as I move the slider. Thought I had the trigger and states correct but it does not work. Can some kind soul tell me where I'm off? I'm attaching the file. And thanks again in advance.
Thanks Leslie. So, the principle is use the "step" as it appears in the slider "design" tab - when I create the trigger- not the name of the state (unlike character states, e.g., happy, etc. where I use the name of the state). Am I close?
Actually, Leslie, I'm in day 21 of the 30-day trial, absorbing, experimenting as much as I can so I can make a wise decision about purchasing storyline. This is my current project :-)

ok, so how do I create this effect...the slider and the bars to
duplicate this? Thank you.

Hi Peter!
Looks like you just needed to update some triggers. You named the states 10, 20, 30, but the steps were 1, 2, 3.
Take a look at your updated file here.

Yes! I couldn't figure out how to word that myself :)
:-) Thanks again, Leslie. I'll be back.
Good luck with your project Peter :)

Very nice! Hope that means we will be seeing you post-30 day trial as well :)
